Armeria maritima ‘Splendens’ is a compact evergreen perennial alpine which forms a mat of needle-like, dark green leaves. From this, stems which reach 20 cm in height, bear compact and round rosettes of bright, deep pink flowers in spring and early summer. This plant reaches a maximum height of 20 cm and spread of 25 cm. It is a stunning plant which is suitable for use in rockery gardens, patio, containers, ground cover or in beds/borders. Suggested Care: Armeria maritima ‘Splendens’ should be planted in well-drained, loamy soils, positioned in full sun. For best growing conditions, grow in infertile soils in an open situation. Additionally, faded flower stems should be removed to help the foliage flourish once the flowering period is over. This plant is quite hardy and can withstand severe temperatures of up to minus fifteen degrees celsius. Drought tolerant once established.
Planting Instructions: Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in ‘up side down’ position. However, do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month.
