Astelia Silver Shadow is the most silver astelia, which is a great architectural plant. Clump-forming habit with sprays of very tall, arching, narrow sword-shaped silver leaves all year round. Insignificant white flowers will develop in the Summer months which are then followed by deep-red berries. It can reach an approximate mature height of 120 cm and a spread of 150cm. It can be grown in patio, containers, beds and borders. ‘Silver Shadow’ looks amazing when paired with other grasses and foliage plants.
Suggested Care: Astelia Silver Shadow should be planted in moist but well-drained, acidic soils, positioned in full sun to partial shade. For best growing conditions, grow in moderately fertile soils. The evergreen foliage can be damaged by frost and cold wind so may need winter protection. It can be propagated by division however, the divisions can be slow to establish.
Planting Instructions: Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in āup side downā position. However, do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month.
