Alcea rosea ‘Spring Celebrities Purple’ is a compact, bushy, short-lives perennial with sturdy stems that carry an abundance of large double purple blooms. These spectacular flowers appear during the summer and last until Autumn. Its foliage is mid-green with lobed rounded loaves. Alcea, also known as ‘hollyhock’ are perfect for a sunny border of in containers. It is also suitable as a cut flower. ‘Spring Celebrities Purple’ can reach a maximum mature height of 80 cm and spread of 40 cm. Its stunning flowers are attractive to both bee’s and butterflies!
Suggested Care: Alcea rosea ‘Spring Celebrities Purple’ should be planted in moist but well-drained soil, positioned in full sun. It can withstand moist soil types but must be protected from winter wet. In hotter climates, it should be planted in partial shade to prevent damage to the leaves. Cut back after the flowering period.
Planting Instructions: Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in ‘up side down’ position. Do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month.
