Description

Euphorbia Robbiae is an evergreen perennial plant. It is commonly known as the Wood spurge or Mrs. Robb’s Bonnet.

This plant has a compact growth habit and grows to a height of about 45cm with a similar spread. It has dark green shiny oval shaped leaves that are arranged in whorls along the stems. The leaves have a leathery texture and can turn reddish in colder weather.

In spring, Euphorbia ‘Robbiae’ produces clusters of small yellow green flowers which are surrounded by long-lasting, lime-green bracts. The flowers and bracts provide an attractive display and can last for several weeks.

This Wood spurge is a tough and versatile plant, suitable for various garden settings. It is tolerant of different soil types, including dry or rocky soils. It can thrive in both shaded and partially shaded areas. However, it may become leggy in dense shade.

Euphorbia ‘Robbiae’ is also known for its ability to spread, forming dense colonies over time. It is often used as a groundcover or in woodland gardens where it can provide attractive foliage and suppress weed growth.

It is important to note that all parts of Euphorbia plants, including Euphorbia-amygd-robbiae, contain a milky sap that can irritate the skin and eyes. Therefore, it is advisable to wear gloves when handling this plant and to keep it away from children and pets.

It hs been awarded the RHS Award Of Merit: http://www.rhsplants.co.uk
