Miscanthus sinensis ‘Gracillimus’ is one of the most popular of Chinese silver grasses. It is so desirable due to its large clump-forming habit and its amazing purple flushed flower plumes that rise above its arching green leaves with white mid-ribs. These flower form late summer to mid autumn. Its plumes delicately change to silver and foliage to a bronze colour as autumn approaches. It is a fabulous plant to use as a focal point in your garden. It can reach an amazing height of 200 cm tall when mature!. It can also spread to up to 120 cm, so make sure when planting you give it plenty of room to thrive!
Suggested Care: Miscanthus sinensis ‘Gracillimus’ is suitable for well-drained soil in a sunny position but it will tolerate partial shade. Mulch grasses with organic material in the autumn to protect roots and shoots from freezing. Once shoots begin to re-appear in spring, we suggest to cut them back to about 10 cm, giving the plant a rejuvenating lease of life. Can be divided in early spring once maturity is established.
Planting Instructions:Ā Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in āup side downā position. Do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month. As this is a tall variety, you should leave space between other plants.
