Herbaceous Perennials
Herbaceous plants (in botanical use frequently simply herbs) are plants that have no persistent woody stem above ground. The term is mainly applied to perennials, but in botany it may also refer to annuals or biennials, and include both forbs and graminoids.
Annual herbaceous plants die completely at the end of the growing season or when they have flowered and fruited, and they then grow again from seed.
Herbaceous perennial and biennial plants may have stems that die at the end of the growing season, but parts of the plant survive under or close to the ground from season to season.
Agastache Kudos Red
Agastache-Kudos-Red is a variety of Agastache, a perennial flowering plant that belongs to the mint family. This particular variety is known for its vibrant red flowers, which are highly attractive to pollinators like bees and butterflies. It has a compact growth habit, typically reaching a height of 45cm.
Fuchsia ‘Riccartonii’
A vigorous growing Fuchsia, forms an upright medium sized bush of ovate dark green leaves. From early Summer the pretty looking flowers will begin to dangle from arching stems on the foliage. Vivid crimson wings surround deep purple tubular centres and will continue to bloom right throughout the Summer until the first frosts. Excellent garden plant highly attractive to pollinators. Height 200cm. Spread 150cm. Position in moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Needs shelter from cold drying winds. Good in beds, back of large borders, cottage style or informal gardens.
Heliopsis ‘Funky Spinner’
This false sunflower will add a stunning display to any garden or patio. It's foliage and flowers make for an intense combination. Darkest green-bronze leaves provide a wonderful background for the striking bicolored, double red and yellow flowers. Big daisy-like flowers, outer petals golden yellow with red centres . Will bloom all Summer long. A good cut-flower and will attract bees and butterflies. Garden plant for flowerbed in well-drained soil in full sun. Will also tolerate light partial shade. Height and spread (approx) - 60cm x 40cm.
Helleborus ‘Double Anna Red’
A clump forming evergreen perennial which provides fantastic Winter colour in the garden. Leathery, dark-green leaves. From late Winter to late Spring, sturdy stems bear large, cup-shaped, double dark red-pink flowers bring a splash to the Winter garden. Petals may be heavily spotted. Garden plant for flowerbed in heavy fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full or partial shade. Shelter from strong, cold winds. Height and spread (approx) - 35cm x 35cm.
Phygelius Croftway ‘Coral Princess’
Forms and upright clump of ovate dark green leaves. Bushy habit. Panicles of tubular coral pink-red flowers with contrasting yellow throats. Will bloom in profusion all through Summer and into Autumn. Cut back spent to flowers to sustain re-blooming. Garden plant for flowerbed in moist but well drained soil in full sun. Best in a sheltered position. Evergreen in mild areas. Good in beds, borders, coastal gardens, beside walls. Height and spread (approx) - 70cm x 60cm.
