Aconitum Pyramidalis is a tall herbaceous perennial composed of dark green, finely divided leaves and stalks dressed in hooded, dark blue flowers from late June to late August. Stake before the flowers appear, and deadhead to the next row of buds to prolong flowering. Aconitum make very good cut plants. It is a perfect plant for a herbaceous border, containers or in a cottage style garden. Pyramidalis can grow to an eventual mature height of 120 cm and spread of 50 cm.
CAUTION: Aconitum can be very toxic, particularly if ingested or comes in contact with bare skin.
Suggested Care: Aconitum Pyramidalis should be planted in moist but well-drained soil, positioned in partial shade. It can withstand full sun however in very hot sunny areas the leaves may appear to be burnt a long the edges. Easily divided every 3 to 4 years, in early spring. Do not allow the plant to become dried out.
Planting Instructions: Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in ‘up side down’ position. Do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month.
