Aconitum ‘Bressingham Spire’ is an amazing old fashioned herbaceous perennial. Dense spikes of hooded, violet-blue flowers develop on strong stems that should not require staking. Additionally, the foliage appears deeply divided and glossy dark green. Aconites are perfect plants for containers, beds/borders and even as a cut flower! When mature, this variety can reach a maximum mature height of 90 cm and spread of 60 cm. ‘Bressingham Spire’ has be awarded The RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
CAUTION: Aconitum can be very toxic, particularly if ingested or comes in contact with bare skin.
Suggested Care: Aconitum ‘Bressingham Spire’ should be planted in moist but well-drained soil, positioned in partial shade. It can withstand full sun however in very hot sunny areas the leaves may appear to be burnt a long the edges. Easily divided every 3 to 4 years, in early spring. Do not allow the plant to become dried out.
Planting Instructions: Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in ‘up side down’ position. Do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month.
