Description

Dicksonia-antarctica, commonly known as the soft tree fern or the Tasmanian tree fern,  It is one of the largest fern species, growing up to 350cm tall.

Dicksonia antarctica has a slender, fibrous trunk covered in a rough, brownish-grey bark. The fronds, or leaves, of the tree fern are large, feathery, and dark green in colour, which can reach lengths of up to 350cm. These fronds emerge from a crown at the top of the trunk and unfurl from curled-up tips.

The soft tree fern prefers moist, cool climates and is often found in wet gullies and shaded areas. It can tolerate some sun exposure but prefers partially shaded conditions. It requires a well-drained soil rich in organic matter and benefits from regular watering.

Dicksonia-antarctica is a popular ornamental plant in gardens and landscapes due to its attractive foliage and architectural presence. It is also commonly used in horticulture for its adaptability to various growing conditions. It can be propagated from spores or by division of the rhizomes.
