Miscanthus sinensis ‘Strictus’ is a compact clump-forming ornamental grass. This clump consists of arching, variegated, foliage with unusual horizontal soft yellow/cream striped leaves. In late summer the plants are topped by pale feathery plumes of flowers which, can be cut and dried for flower arrangements. After the flowering period, in late autumn the foliage turns to a brown colourĀ but it still holds its architectural integrity. Itās also perfect for growing in a mixed herbaceous border. This variety can reach a maximum mature height of 200 cm, spread of 120 cm! This plant has been awarded The RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
Suggested Care: Miscanthus sinensis ‘Strictus’ is suitable for well-drained soil in a sunny position but it will tolerate partial shade. Mulch with organic material in the autumn to protect roots and shoots from freezing. Once shoots begin to re-appear in spring, we suggest to cut them back to about 10 cm, giving the plant a rejuvenating lease of life. Can be divided in early spring once maturity is established. Protect from excessive winter wet.
Planting Instructions:Ā Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in āup side downā position. Do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month. As this is a tall variety, you should leave space between other plants.
