Herbaceous Perennials
Herbaceous plants (in botanical use frequently simply herbs) are plants that have no persistent woody stem above ground. The term is mainly applied to perennials, but in botany it may also refer to annuals or biennials, and include both forbs and graminoids.
Annual herbaceous plants die completely at the end of the growing season or when they have flowered and fruited, and they then grow again from seed.
Herbaceous perennial and biennial plants may have stems that die at the end of the growing season, but parts of the plant survive under or close to the ground from season to season.
Dierama pulcherrimum ‘Album’
A truly elegant addition to any garden. Narrow evergreen grass-like leaves form a clump, which is graced with tall arching stems resembling fishing rods - as it's name suggests. A Eupatorium with a neat and compact growing habit and blooming earlier than other varieties. Bright green foliage forms and upright clump. In late Summer purple red stems bear a profusion of pink-purple flowers. Highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Kniphofia ‘Flamenco’
This Red Hot Poker forms a large clump of strap-like green leaves. Short sturdy stems bear torch or poker like red-orange flower buds which open out to yellow, creating a wonderful two toned effect. Perovskia atriplicifolia ‘Blue Steel’
Deeply divided, aromatic silvery foliage with a bushy habit. Strong silver stems carry large panicles of small violet-blue flowers appearing in sprays. Provides wonderful colour and fragrance in the late Summer and Autumn garden. Highly attractive to bees and pollinators. Garden plant for flowerbed in well-drained soil in full sun. Persicaria microcephala ‘Red Dragon’®
An excellent groundcover plant for moist areas of the garden. Grown for it's wonderful dark red-purple foliage which spreads quickly and gives great contrast. Lance-shaped leaves are sharply pointed and splashed with silver at their centres. Small pale pink flowers in late Summer and Autumn. Garden plant for flowerbed in moist soil in sun or partial shade. Phygelius Croftway ‘Coral Princess’
Forms and upright clump of ovate dark green leaves. Bushy habit. Panicles of tubular coral pink-red flowers with contrasting yellow throats. Will bloom in profusion all through Summer and into Autumn. Cut back spent to flowers to sustain re-blooming. Garden plant for flowerbed in moist but well drained soil in full sun.
