Ajuga reptans ‘Chocolate Chip’ is a beautiful low growing, evergreen, mat-forming perennial. Its name comes from its attractive, chocolate green-brown ovate leaves. This plant is perfect for ground-cover as its glossy leaves form a low spreading carpet and can withstand shaded areas. Typically, short upright spikes of blue flowers appear in Spring. It reaches a maximum height of roughly 7 cm and spread of 20cm. Perfect plant which will add colour to your garden all year round. Suitable for planting in beds, borders, containers and in shaded areas. Its foliage compliments plants of a brighter color.
Suggested Care: Ajuga reptans ‘Chocolate Chip’ is a shade lover so planting in partial or full shade is recommended. It is easily grown in well-drained soils but does love moisture. However, it can withstand almost all soils once they are rich in moisture. It will tolerate full sun but constant moisture must be provided. If the plants are dried out the leaves may shrivel.
Planting Instructions: Firstly break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in ‘up side down’ position. For this purpose you should not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month.
