Description

Aubrieta ‘Audrey Blue’ is a sought after, compact, evergreen perennial alpine, with a longer flowering period than other Aubrieta varieties. It forms a mound of small ovate, toothed, hairy, mid-green leaves. From this neat mound, short stems rise bearing large sized, four-petalled, deep blue-purple flowers. These flowers appear in mid/late spring and last through to the summer months. This plant can reach a maximum mature height of 10 cm and spread of 40 cm. Plants are carpeting and can be used as a natural weed control in sunny borders, rockeries, spring containers, or on banks and awkward slopes. Additionally, pollinators including bees and butterflies adore this plant!

Suggested Care: Aubrieta ‘Audrey Blue’ should be planted in well-drained soils, positioned in a sunny position. It can also be places in a partially shaded area however less blooms may appear. It is an ideal plant for dry area such as slopes or walls. Species can be propagated by seed sown in containers in a cold frame in autumn or spring. Cut back after flowering to maintain compactness.

Planting Instructions: Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in ‘up side down’ position. However, do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month.
