Armeria maritima ‘Alba’ is a compact evergreen perennial alpine which forms a mat of needle-like, dark green leaves. From this, short stems which reach only 15 cm in height, bear compact and round clusters of rosettes of pure white flowers, which resemble pom-poms, in spring and early summer. This plant reaches a maximum height of 15 cm and spread of 20 cm. It is a stunning plant which is suitable for use in rockery gardens, patio, containers, ground cover or in beds/borders. Additionally, ‘Alba’ is the perfect pollinator plant to add to your garden.
Suggested Care: Armeria maritima ‘Alba’ should be planted in well-drained, loamy soils, positioned in full sun. For best growing conditions, grow in moderately fertile soils in an open situation. Additionally, faded flower stems should be removed to help the foliage flourish once the flowering period is over or it could also encourage a second flush of flowers. This plant is quite hardy and can withstand severe temperatures of up to minus fifteen degrees celsius.
Planting Instructions: Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in ‘up side down’ position. However, do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month.
