Aster alpinus ‘Albus’ is a stunning early blooming alpine which is often grown in rockery gardens. It forms a clump of small, dark green, lance-shaped leaves. From late spring and into summer, erect stems of approximately 25 cm bear daisy-like pure white flowers with yellow centres above the foliage. It can grow to a maximum height of 25 cm and spread of 40 cm. ‘Albus’ is suitable for use in beds, borders, or even as cut flowers! It is also a great pollinator plant which attracts bees and butterflies. After the flowering period is over, you should cut back the plant to encourage new growth.
Suggested Care: Aster alpinus ‘Albus’ should be planted in well-drained, loamy soils, positioned in full sun. For best growing conditions, grow in moderately fertile soils in an open position. This variety s known to self seed once it is healthy and established.
Planting Instructions: Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in ‘up side down’ position. However, do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month.
