Miscanthus sinensis ‘Malepartus’ is an attractive ornamental grass with fine, arching leaves with a distinctive single white stripe, which change to amazing shades of orange and red in autumn. In late summer to mid autumn it bears amazing red-brown, silky feathery plumes, which appear to glow in the evening light. This is one of the earliest flowering miscanthus sinensis cultivar. This fully hardy grass can reach a maximum mature height of 200 cm and cam spread up to 120 cm. Perfect for a mixed ornamental border or gravel garden and also makes as a good cut flower.
Suggested Care: Miscanthus sinensis ‘Malepartus’ is suitable for well-drained soil in a sunny position but it will tolerate partial shade. Mulch grasses with organic material in the autumn to protect roots and shoots from freezing. Once shoots begin to re-appear in spring, we suggest to cut them back to about 10 cm, giving the plant a rejuvenating lease of life. Can be divided in early spring once maturity is established.
Planting Instructions:Ā Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in āup side downā position. Do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month. As this is a tall variety, you should leave space between other plants.
