Dicksonia antarctica
A magnificent specimen plant for architectural impact in the garden. Trunk forming fern crowned with gigantic rich green palm-like fronds which unfurl from the centre. In winter protect the crown by wrapping it up with straw or dead fronds. Tasmanian tree fern for growing in acidic soil in full or dappled shade. Hardy in mild areas. Also can be kept in containers in sheltered areas or cool conservatories in partial shade.
Eupatorium rugosum ‘Chocolate’
Forms a large mound of dark bronze-purple foliage which will gradually turn a dark green as the season progresses. In late Summer clusters of fluffy white flowers are born on dark red-purple stems. A great pollinator plant. Garden plant for flowerbed in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Will tolerate a dry shade area. Good in beds, borders, woodland or wildlife garden. Height 180 cm. Spread 60 cm.
Osmunda regalis ‘Pupurescens’
A smaller Royal Fern. Forms a large clump of long and arching, deeply divided foliage, which changes colour constantly during the season providing wonderful interest. New red-purple fronds emerge in Spring and gradually turn to a bright green in Summer, further turning then to a yellow and finally bronze in Autumn. Garden plant for flowerbed in moist or boggy soil in full or partial shade. Great groundcover fern. Will tolerate sun in a cooler area in constantly moist soil. Good for marginal planting. Height and spread (approx) - 120 cm x 100 cm.
