Cyathea-australis, commonly known as the rough tree fern, is a species of tree fern native to south eastern Australia and New Zealand. It is a large, evergreen fern that can grow up to 200cm tall. The Cyathea-australis has a rough, fibrous trunk which is usually dark bark, hence its common name. The fronds are pinnate and dark green in colour, with a slightly leathery texture. This species is typically found in moist, shaded areas such as forests and shaded gardens, and it prefers well-draining soil. It is often used in landscaping and gardens for its dramatic appearance and ability to tolerate a range of growing conditions.
