Herbaceous Perennials
Herbaceous plants (in botanical use frequently simply herbs) are plants that have no persistent woody stem above ground. The term is mainly applied to perennials, but in botany it may also refer to annuals or biennials, and include both forbs and graminoids.
Annual herbaceous plants die completely at the end of the growing season or when they have flowered and fruited, and they then grow again from seed.
Herbaceous perennial and biennial plants may have stems that die at the end of the growing season, but parts of the plant survive under or close to the ground from season to season.
Centaurea Amethyst Dream ®
Forms a mound of narrow grey-green foliage. Shaggy and exotic looking silky, purple flowers from early Summer to Autumn. A really eye-catching flower! Good for cutting too. Beautiful Ornamental Thistle. Upright clump forming perennial with prickly leaves resembling the foliage of a thistle. Tall, erect stems bear spectacular deep purple thistle-like flowers in mid to late Summer. A magnet for bees and butterflies! Garden plant for flowerbed in moist well-drained or damp soil in full sun. Approximate height and spread- 150cm x 60cm.
Echinacea ‘Green Jewel’®
Upright stems reaching for the sun, bear striking flowers from mid Summer to Autumn. Unusual pale green petals surround a dark green cone, making a stunning display. Extremely attractive to butterflies and bees. A must for any garden! Garden plant for flowerbed in well drained soil in full sun. Suitable in beds, borders, pots or containers.
