Allium ‘Moly’, commonly known as Golden Garlic or Lily Leek, is a charming, compact perennial that produces clusters of bright golden-yellow, star-shaped flowers from late spring to early summer. The vivid blooms sit atop short, sturdy stems that rise above attractive strap-shaped green leaves, creating a cheerful splash of colour in garden borders and rockeries.
This easy-to-grow allium thrives in well-drained soil and a sunny position, making it ideal for borders, cottage gardens, and naturalised plantings. It is also drought-tolerant once established and attracts bees, butterflies, and other pollinators to the garden. Perfect for planting in groups for a striking display of warm, golden tones. This plant has been awarded The RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
Suggested Care: Allium ‘Moly’ should be planted in gritty, well-drained soils, positioned in a sunny position. Once the flowers begin to die off, you should cut them back to encourage new growth and foliage. If self-seeding is undesired, you should cut back the flowering stems once the flowers had become discoloured. This variety of Allium is drought tolerant.
Planting Instructions: Break up the soil well before planting and dig a hole twice the size of the pot. Remove plant from the pot by tapping the rim of the pot in ‘up side down’ position. Do not pull the plant from the pot. Firm soil after planting and water regularly for the first month.
